Since the launch of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a diverse cast of personalities, and a thrilling plot showcasing angels, evil spirits, and sinister influences growing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Revealing details for the third episode of Campaign 4 are included.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
Episode 3 concluded with a major cliffhanger and presented the premier party of characters who will branch out from the central cast to embark on their own adventure, separate from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table features the determined fighter (played by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
With a large ensemble, it was clear from the start that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
This explains, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, weaving together the personal journeys before dividing into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Planners, and Questers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for players who prefer a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might appear unsuited, but the events of the third episode show why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the party understands precisely where to head next after a violent initial meeting with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose passing initiated the narrative’s action—exploited The Crow Keepers for his own means, invading the secret base, striking Thimble, and stealing all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The antagonist then paid off his debts and escaped to a fortified location in the remote area, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each character has a individual motive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the companion and closest confidant, desires revenge.
- Kattigan has experience in the northern area and cautions that it is a nasty place.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their position as important members in the powerful family could assist the team enter places they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character vowed a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now go with him anywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the authorities that govern the city for a range of causes, making lingering locally too risky:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and The healer defied House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the family.
This means them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of Casimir.
Future Episodes
According to the recent installment’s post-show segment, we learn that the combat party will not appear next week, leaving the rest of the players to form the Questers and Planners groups.
Viewers can expect finding out which adventurers will be where in the season’s concluding setup installment, released on the upcoming Thursday.
