Area Law Enforcement
Around fifty vehicles have been covered with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Automobiles, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.
Officers report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a man noticed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish liquid.
The substance had been placed in the shape of a banned symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then found many other smeared vehicles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Officials say early analysis suggest the fluid was probably blood from a person.
"There is still no clue as to its origin; investigators are not yet aware of any injuries in association with the event," they stated.
City officials announced they were trying "to resolve the incident" and have asked to the public for information.
A senior official said the attack left him stunned and required to be addressed rapidly.
"This event affects the core of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he wrote on social media, recalling the killing of nine people by a assailant targeting individuals of foreign heritage in five years prior.
